Grand Stade Hassan II
At Benslimane, some forty kilometres from Casablanca, Morocco is building what is billed as the future largest football stadium in the world: 115,000 seats under a giant “tent”. A declared candidate for the final.

Phase 2 under way: a full roof, upgraded stands and a rise from 40,500 to 45,860 seats, for MAD 883 million, targeting 2028.
The Grand Stade de Marrakech, opened in January 2011 north of the city, was brought up to CAF standards for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (phase 1). Its current capacity is 40,500 according to SONARGES, the public stadium operator (45,240 according to Wikipedia).

Phase 2 (a full roof, removal of the running track, upgraded stands, capacity raised to 45,860) was put out to tender in April 2026 for MAD 883.2 million, covering fifteen months of work; the first contracts were awarded by ANEP in June 2026. Target: 2028.
Getting there
The stadium is about 11 km north of the medina: a petit taxi costs 80 to 120 dirhams (25 minutes), and bus services are limited. From Menara airport: bus L19 (30 dirhams) to the centre, then a taxi. Allow extra time on match days.
