Portugal’s largest stadium (68,100 seats) is to grow towards 80,000 seats by the end of 2029, in phases, without interrupting the season.

Lisbon
Two neighbouring stadiums (the Luz and Alvalade), a city-centre airport that will remain the only one until 2035, and some of the most expensive hotels on the peninsula in summer.
Lisbon hosts the Estádio da Luz (being expanded towards 80,000 seats) and the Estádio José Alvalade, less than 3 km apart. The new Luís de Camões airport (Alcochete) will not open before 2035: in 2030, every flight will still go through the current Humberto Delgado airport.
Getting there
From Porto: Alfa Pendular in 2 h 50 min (€35.70 in tourist class, 2026 fare; promotional fares from around €16 two months ahead), Intercidades in 3 h 15 min. From Madrid: 1 h 20 min by plane, from 5 h 50 min by bus, 8 to 9 hours by train with changes (no direct service in 2026).
Getting around
Metro and Carris buses: €1.90 a journey, €7.25 for 24 hours (2026 fares). Airport to the centre on the red metro line (€1.90, 25–35 min); the Aerobus no longer runs.
Luz: blue line (Colégio Militar/Luz, Alto dos Moinhos). Alvalade: green or yellow line (Campo Grande).
